1. New name on the Instagram denizbul_beats, new blond hair? What a change! What else is new about Deniz?
I wanted to reflect a fresh start and evolving style, and the new blond hair and Instagram name, ‘denizbul_beats,’ symbolize this exciting change.
2. How does it feel be be part of Boris Brejcha’s label “FCKNG SERIOUS,” seems like a family tho.
It is. It feels very nice to spend time with the crew – we share creative visions and memorable moments.
3. What’s the latest gig you enjoyed a lot recently?
I´m sitting on a plane flying from Brazil back to Europe. For the last 3 weeks, I played a few shows in South America like Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil. I loved it. For example, I played a great gig in Buenos Aires outdoors at a very nice venue. Palm trees everywhere, 30 degrees, and great energy. So good. Also in Brazil, I had the pleasure of playing at Green Valley. Fantastic Venue and the crowd was amazing. I had the chance to play into the sunrise. Fantastic. I also enjoyed the Warehouse Festival in Mexico. I can’t specifically tell what my favorite one was – you just need to know that you feel the fire the people have in this part of the world.
4. What drew you to the electronic music scene, and who were your early influences?
Let’s turn back the time when I was around 18 years old – I started to listen to electronic music. Back in the day, I was a fan of Tiesto. Tracks like „Traffic“ or „Lethal Industry“ gave me something. Then I turned 19 and I went to the legendary Loveparade. It was my very first big techno festival. I remember after the parade, there was a big stage in the middle of a big Square and thousands of people around the stage. I was sitting on the shoulders of a friend of mine and was overwhelmed – Westbam was playing a set at that moment – I can’t tell you why but I knew that moment that this is what I want to do in life. So I went back home the next day – sold my car and bought some dj equipment. I already got in touch before with the basics of producing because I recorded me and some friends back in the days when we were doing music together… but that’s another story…
5. How do you balance your personal life with the demands of touring and producing music?
It’s not always easy to keep always the balance. I think discipline is one way to handle that. In my case, I have studio days during the weekdays and I also have a specific day in the week (besides touring) when I’m gonna have some „quality time“ with the closest persons around me.
6. Could you walk us through your creative process when starting a new track?
I may have an idea about a melody, or bassline or I found a great vocal I want to use and from there, I’m starting to find the right fitting instruments and drums. I would say most of the time I get the inspiration during the process of producing the track.
7. When performing live, how do you engage with your audience and ensure they have a memorable experience?
I would say as a Dj you get the chance to speak to your audience during the set through body language. You can use dynamic body language to convey energy and enthusiasm. Eye contact can also help to get a better connection to the crowd. There is no „how to…“ I think the most important is to be yourself and also use spontaneous moments to keep the show interesting and memorable. I do it that way and I would say if I feel the vibe of the music the crowd feels that too and it’s easier for them to dive into my set.
8. Can you give us any hints about upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about?
I’m working constantly on new releases. My next one is coming in the first quarter of 2024. I like the vibe of it and I can’t wait to release it. I also work with some Artists together – but that’s something I can´t share with you right now. Stay tuned!
9. Looking back, what is one thing you wish you knew when you started in the music industry?
One thing I wish I had known when I started in the music industry is the importance of networking and building relationships. While musical talent is undoubtedly crucial, establishing connections with other musicians, industry professionals, and fans can significantly impact your career.
10. Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
In the next 10 years, I see myself as an accomplished and versatile music producer and DJ, pushing creative boundaries across genres. My goal is to perform on global stages, collaborate with top talents, and share my unique sound. Through consistent growth, networking, and a strong online presence, I aim to leave a lasting impact on the music industry.
11. Where we can see you perform in 2024, any special Gig you are excited about?
I’m gearing up for my India tour in 2023, and the prospect of playing at the renowned “Sunburn” festival in Goa is truly thrilling. India always brings a unique adventure. Looking beyond, 2024 holds some fantastic gigs, including performances in Istanbul, Germany, and Estonia early in the year (many more to come during the year). To cap it off, I’ll be heading back to Australia for my second tour Down Under. The journey continues, and I can’t wait for the music and memories that lie ahead
