Interview with Victor Tellagio:

Congratulations on the release of “Cafe With Gods”! What was it like getting the track signed to Robin Schulz’s label?

Thanks! It feels amazing to be part of Robin’s label with this crazy track!

What’s the story behind the name, and how did the idea of blending mysticism and music come about? Was there a particular story or experience that influenced the track?

It all started when I found the vocal part for this track. It had a tribal, special feel, and I wanted to combine it with rhythmic, powerful production influenced by techno sounds, but with my own unique twist.

For those who don’t know Victor Tellagio, how would you introduce yourself?

I’m a music producer and DJ from Prague, Czech Republic. I love to create different sounds and surprise people with unique combinations in my releases. I think my music doesn’t necessarily fit into one genre; my DJ sets and productions blend everything from underground to commercial. I love connecting those two worlds and expressing myself through a wide variety of sounds. I’ve been fortunate enough to have my music played by some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Tiësto, Dom Dolla, Nicky Romero, and Martin Garrix to name a few.

How is your summer season of 2024 going? Which gigs have you enjoyed the most, and what shows are you still looking forward to?

It’s going really great, to be honest! I’m enjoying my new residency at the #39 DJ Mag club, Duplex Prague. I also really enjoyed playing at this year’s edition of the BeatsForLove festival—such fun times!

Looking back, what first drew you to DJing and producing music? Was there a specific moment or influence that pushed you toward this path?

I guess I’ve always had a big passion and love for music since a young age. For producing, it was more about the curiosity of learning how songs are made, which then turned into a way to express my feelings and ideas through music. DJing slowly followed after I won a contest to perform at a festival, and from that moment, I was completely hooked!

What has been the most memorable performance or moment in your DJ career so far?

There have been many amazing events, like playing at Tipsport Arena in Prague for 8,000 people or my headline show at SpacePlus Bangkok. But the one that recently stood out the most was my show at a jungle party on a small island in Thailand named Koh Tao! They drove me 30 minutes into the deep jungle, where they threw an insane party. The vibes there were unmatched!

How does your personal life inspire your music? Do experiences from your own life often find their way into your tracks?

Absolutely! “Cafe With Gods” was inspired by real life as well. A really close friend who introduced me to Afro House showed me a few Afro releases, and while I was exploring this whole new genre, I suddenly felt inspired to infuse some of those feelings into the track. So, speaking to people about music and experiencing life on different levels definitely inspires my productions. Right now, I’m working on a crazy track with a really talented Czech singer, and we both wrote the lyrics based on our life experiences. I feel that if you allow yourself to be vulnerable and let creativity flow, it can create some amazing moments in music.

What are some personal goals you’ve set for the future?

Have fun and make great records! 🙂

Can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming projects or releases? What’s next for Victor Tellagio?

I’m just finishing up a bunch of crazy collaborations, and hopefully, I can keep doing what I’m doing, but even better and bigger!
