Interview with ALTERBOY duo
Hey guys, we’re really glad you accepted our invitation to LoudLife. How’s it going?
Hey guys, thank you for having us! It’s going great; this year has been crazy so far.
You’ve resonated with us, especially with your latest release, which has received incredible support worldwide from some of the biggest names. We should also mention that you have other successful tracks with millions of views. Which of all these do you consider the best one?
We think our favorite one is definitely “What About Me” because it captures a bit of everything we like stylistically. It feels more mature compared to our earlier songs, where we were still trying to find our own sound.
Listen to Alterboy Music
The record label ‘Experts Only’ is a dream for many young and even more experienced producers. Is this something you’ve been aiming for a long time, or was it the first track you sent that took off right away?
We have always had immense respect for John Summit and what he’s doing, not to mention his amazing music. But we never really set getting signed to a label as a goal when making music; instead, we focus on creating something unique that resonates with us. So yeah, this was the first time we sent a song to them—a lucky strike, lol.
I fell in love with the track upon the first listen when Solomun & Patrick Topping played it at Creamfields. It must have been amazing to wake up and find out that these two huge names played your track at one of the biggest festivals. How did you feel about that?
It’s always a great feeling to hear our songs played around the world, no matter who the DJ is. Of course, when the support comes from huge names, it feels even better!
Sonically, you’ve hit a beautiful fusion with the use of an old sample and modern Indie-Tech. While we could categorize it in other genres, stylistically it fits perfectly with Max Styler, who is currently rising in the U.S. Don’t you think the American market is ahead of ours European in these styles?
We love the USA, and DJing there is an amazing experience. A lot of great club music is coming from there these days, even though many of the producers creating these tracks are not American. We definitely think the American market is growing fast. Not sure if they’re ahead, but their listeners are probably a bit more open to exploring something new.
How much time do you spend together in the studio, and how much time do you dedicate to individual projects? In the future, do you plan to push more of your solo projects or the ALTERBOY project?
We try to meet at least once a week. Teo is a full-time producer and works with many other artists, so he balances both well. Recently, though, we’ve both been focused primarily on our Alterboy project. But even if we don’t meet we still work individually to the project.
If you could choose your dream collaboration as Alterboy, feel free to mention more names. It could be a current artist or even a singer/band/artist who is no longer alive.
We admire so many artists. In the electronic scene, a dream collaboration would be with Daft Punk, Skrillex, Chris Lake, Disclosure, or Tiesto. Beyond that, we love Queen, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson. Honestly, we could go on forever with names, lol.
Aside from music, what are your interests outside of DJing? R u into music fulltime , or do you have another job?
As mentioned earlier, Teo is a full-time DJ and producer who also has a passion for food, art, and fashion. Andrea, the younger part of the duo, still works full-time in his family business, and he shares an interest in food and fashion. But music remains our primary obsession.
What are your plans for the near future and for 2025?
We’ve been working on a lot of music and are kicking off the new year with a big collaboration with one of the artists we mentioned earlier 🙂 We aim to keep raising the bar and, most importantly, continue having fun and loving what we do.
