Loudlife had the incredible opportunity to sit down with the one and only Boris Brejcha during his performance at Techmission in Prague. Known as the pioneer of High-Tech Minimal and a global sensation in the electronic music world, Boris continues to push the boundaries of sound and creativity.
Interview with Boris Brejcha:
How are you today? How are you feeling? Are you excited for the set tonight?
Yeah, it’s just arrived. I’m feeling good. I had good food and proper sleep. So I’m excited and I’m ready.
Minimal. That’s your own genre. What inspired you to create it and how do you perceive it today?
Actually, it’s just a name for evolving my music. When I started to produce music, I was producing a lot of minimal music because it was quite popular at that time. But after a while, I was getting bored with this style, and like in the very very beginning, I was also producing a lot of trance music so I tried to make a combination of trance and minimal and in the end, it’s a combination of everything. So actually, I would say it’s like electronic music but people somehow need to identify. Okay, that’s Boris. He’s playing like high tech minimal and so that’s why the name is just like to identify.
You founded your own label. What is your vision for it and how do you support young talents?
Our vision is super simple. We’re just searching for people who are great producers. So that’s the main focus. So we don’t want to have just like people they’re going to DJ. It’s like the main focus that they’re going to produce and they’re going to produce music. We love it. Of course, it’s also important because you’ll travel with these people like every weekend. So it’s important that everyone can be with each other. So there’s no trouble like this. We are just having good fun and a good time and supporting ourselves like super crazy. We have a concert here and I was bringing all my stuff from the label. So it’s nice.
We’ve read that you also draw, paint, perform and compose. Can fans see your work anywhere or even purchase it?
Not yet. I mean, I’m still trying, but I mean, besides music, there’s like a lot of stuff you can do. I mean, just chilling or going to the Zalna or doing some creative stuff. And I mean, doing music is like creative stuff. So it’s like nearby that I do something else which is like also creative.
Yeah, so do you have a website or a link to one?
Not yet? Yeah. That’s just for my own.
How did you enjoy 2024 and what are your plans for 2025?
The year was good. I had like four months’ holidays at the beginning of the year and then we started our tour and we had some super nice locations and super nice shows. We’ve been to so many cities and so many countries. So like that’s super, super nice and super important. And for next year, of course, I mean, we’re going to change some cities. So, in some cities, it is like one year’s break and going to other cities because there are too many cities on this planet, just to spread it a little bit more. And of course, I’m going to release more music. We already plan to make a music video in Toronto for track 16 right now. So there’s a lot to come.
What would you like to wish your fans for 2025?
The most important is that everyone needs to be healthy. That’s the most important thing. And there’s like so much going outside in this world. So the most important thing is to have a good time and have enough time with your friends, with your family and your life, in a positive way. And I’m super happy that I can play here and that I have a lot of fans who are coming and enjoying the night with me tonight. So yeah, that’s it.
