The first weekend of Coachella is officially behind us, so let´s recap on what we have missed.
Of course we have to mention the main stars and headliners of this weekend and they were” Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat and Tyler, the Creator, but we are going to take a little deeper dive into the names of electronic music.
Comeback of Michael Bibi
Let´s start with something truly special. One of the special moments has to be a return of Michael Bibi after surviving a rare form of brain cancer. Michael played his show at “Quasar Stage”, which by the way was packed with great names on the first weekend of festival, such as Honey Dijon, Green Velvet,Jamie XX and more.
Since beating the cancer, Michael made a great comeback for Coachella. It was even more special to him, since he had his family and friends there. His set was filled with power, emotion and had an amazing energy .The crowd was as emotional as Michael, as it was a truly powerful comeback set.
Steve Angello Teases New Swedish House Mafia ID – Lioness
Even this year we had a little taste of Swedish House Mafia music. Steve Angello performed a solo set during which he played a new ID by Swedish House Mafia, currently called “Lioness”. Trio have promised a new album last year, so everybody is hoping it will come out in 2024 with all the new music teasing.
John Summit and Dom Dolla B2B Set
We need to talk about John Summit´s and Dom Dolla´s B2B set on Friday. The “Outdoor Theather” stage was dominated by this duo and their concept called “Everything Always”. Both John Summit and Dom Dolla played their biggest hits such as “La Danza” or “San Frandisco”, even with hints of some of their new ID´s, such as Dom Dolla´s collaboration with Tove Lo or long awaited John Summit´s collab with Sub Focus. The duo have described that night as „the best night of our lives“ on their Instagram.
Kaskade and Alison Wonderland as a Special Surprise Guest
Kaskade and Alison Wonderland had made quite an entrance. Nobody at “Do LaB” stage knew who the surprise guest will be, until Kaskade and Alice came up on stage as a special surprise guest and created madness. It is not something you see everyday, so of course the word spreaded really quickly, and “Do LaB” stage was filled within minutes. They did an incredible B2B set and even played their unreleased ID.
Grimes and Her “Major Technical Difficulties” During Set
Something that really caught our eye, and probably everybody elses, was chaotic set by singer and songwriter Grimes on Saturday. She had major technical difficulties during which she had to start her set over multiple times. It escalated to the point where she screamed directly into the microphone in frustration, for which she had already apologised on her socials. She promised that she will be ready for her second weekend set at Coachella.
