Farrago: Techno For Me Was Always A More Mature Kind Of Music.

Hi Sam, thanks for taking the time to chat with us. On behalf of the entire LoudLife and Roxy family, we’d like to congratulate you on the birth of your beautiful daughter Kiki. How are you enjoying this new role as dad?

It’s life-changing, it is very cliché but people cannot prepare you for this at all. You think you know but really it’s not even close. Basically, your priorities shift, and from now on it’s all about Kiki <3

What started your love for techno and the genre? Was it love at first sight or did you get into techno through other genres?

Interestingly enough I found out about Techno very early on but went on a long side quest through many different genres before coming back to it at a later age. Techno for me was always a more mature kind of music. Because when I found out about it, 90s techno and early 2000s it was way more minimalistic. The entire opposite of what you might hear today at most raves.

What has been the biggest concert highlight for you in 2023 and what made it so? Also, what was your favorite track of the year that comes first to your mind?

The biggest concert I think for me was my Unreal show at the Battle of the Nations monument in Leipzig. Something about the location and the sheer amount of people that were there was just mindblowing to me. My favourite track of the year by far: is ‘Aamourocean – This is the Way’ which came out on my label Vermillion Trax a couple of weeks ago. I think I played that track at over 100 shows last year and I still have it in my playlist.

I saw your Instagram post a year ago with your New Year’s resolutions and plans for 2023, where you wanted to be more creative and focused on your personal development and growth. How happy are you with the outcome and how do you rate this year in general?

The funny thing about this post was actually that it was supposed to take a piss at all the people who started overusing AI-generated text for everything for the most generic captions you could think of. I decided to do the same for my New Year post to try and highlight how awful some of these posts sounded.

This Friday is your first time playing at Roxy Prague, what can the Czech fans who never heard about Farrago expect in your set?

A very broad spectrum of electronic dance music.

Regarding music and projects, what else we get from you this year?

I am working on a big music project for this year but I decided not to pin a deadline to it. I am in no rush to finish it but it will have my full focus and attention throughout 2024.

Tune In To the Beats from Farrago

Farrago BIO

Farrago, whose real name is Sam Deliaert, is a renowned Belgian techno producer and DJ. He is recognized for his ability to create fast-paced and mind-bending sounds, which he skillfully incorporates into his high-energy DJ sets. In 2022, he tied the knot with Amelie Lens, and the following year, they joyfully welcomed their daughter named Kiki.

Prior to adopting the Farrago alias, Deliaert performed under the name Talbot Wood, captivating audiences at various events across Europe from 2013 to 2014. It was during this period that he caught the attention of Jorn and Tom, who are well-known for their involvement with Other Heights and Curle Recordings.

By blending his previous works with fresh ideas and artistic growth, Deliaert decided to rebrand himself as Farrago, a name that perfectly encapsulated his unique musical style. Since then, he has released numerous successful projects, including notable tracks like “Purge” (2017), “Circling The Sun” (2017), and “Weight Of The Land” (2017). His music has been featured on esteemed labels such as ARTS, Lenske (which he co-founded with Amelie Lens in 2018), and Exhale, where he currently holds a residency.

In addition to his production endeavors, Farrago frequently embarks on global tours, gracing the stages of renowned events like Rotterdam Rave Festival and Awakenings Festival. Despite his busy schedule, he proudly embraces his inner geek and enjoys spending his free time playing video games, with “Elden Ring” being one of his favorites.
