Legendary Club Printworks London Set for 2026 Reopening.

The potential revival of Printworks London is on the horizon as property developers, British Land and AustralianSuper, one of the country’s major pension funds, have submitted plans to Southwark council.

The 6,000-capacity post-industrial superclub, which closed its doors just over a year ago, could see a reopening by 2026. The submitted proposal outlines a detailed plan to transform the Rotherhithe site into a permanent cultural venue.

Emma Cariaga, one of project leaders said : “We intend to create a permanent cultural venue and put it on the map globally. Over the last six years, Printworks has become an iconic venue for electronic music and one of the top five clubs in the world. But our plans seek to push that to deliver a much broader programme.”

Architects Hawkins\Brown are focusing on preserving the original industrial aesthetic of the Press Halls. The intension is to create a space for electronic dance music club nights, concerts, immersive art shows, and corporate events. Additionally, the Inkwells would be repurposed as a performance space for immersive exhibitions and intimate music events.

This establishment would utilize one portion of the current structure, formerly housing the printing presses of the Daily Mail and Evening Standard. The other segment, referred to as the Grand Press, is to be converted into office spaces for 1,500 employees and retail outlets.

Printworks London was ranked the second-best music venue globally, surpassing renowned venues in Ibiza and Berlin, in a study by DJ Tech Reviews before its closure last year.
