Interview With Mark Reeve:
Mark, you’re back with the ‘Golden’ EP on Terminal M! What’s it like to revisit your fan-favorite track ‘Golden’ from 2019?
Hey there yes i was really important to give that track a new touch but still keep the original feeling. Really happy with the out come !
Could you introduce us also ‘All We Have’ whats the inspiration behind?
Well Monika said to me „We need a second track“ i then thought about it and „All We Have“ was the latest track i was working on. I literally told her „Thats the only one i have“ lol So i decided to call it exactly that „All We Have“
You’ve been based in Germany for over 15 years now. How did moving from England to a more intense techno scene impact your sound and career?
I was always at home with german techno and at the time loop techno. I even listened to Sven Väth in the UK and was always into that kind of sound. I guess my move to Germany was a must.
Sven Väth was one of the first to recognize your talent—what did his early support mean for you?
Sven was amazing i remember him playing my first record in Cocoon Club given to him by Ingo Boss at the time. It opened the door for me at the time and i can not thank him enough for his support over the years.
You’ve collaborated with legends like Adam Beyer and and have releases on iconic labels like Drumcode and Cocoon. Has any advice or feedback from them really shaped your sound?
Yes especially Adam Beyer believes in quality and sometimes i sat hours in the studio trying to clean up my mixdowns. Very thankful for the true feedbacks over the years. It was really important to shape my sound.
With releases on Cocoon, Drumcode, Soma, and your label SubVision, you’ve had a massive impact on the techno scene. What’s one of your proudest moments so far in your journey?
I think the biggest moment for me is when Sven Väth and Carl Cox were dancing in the Dj Booth at the Time Warp. My track „Daybreak“ was in the background. That was obviously a massive moment for me.
You’ve been pushing electronic music forward. What’s the key to staying inspired in a genre that’s constantly evolving?
I think moving forward and leaning into the future is the key. Standing still and not evolving can be deadly. My sound has changed over the years and i am pleased that i am adapting to new sounds and new styles.
For your fans and aspiring producers, any advice on creating music with the kind of passion that you’re known for?
I always hate the word fans because i do not see myself as a superstar. I am just a normal guy that loves techno music and tries to dj and produce it the best i can. Be humble believe in yourself. Always do what you think is good for you. Stay positive and dont give up. The rest will follow.
Finally, we’re excited for what’s next! Can you share any upcoming projects or new directions you’re excited to explore?
Well I have a release with Reinier Zonnefeld on Filth On Acid and a special collab with Joyhauser also coming soon. I have also been talking to Eli Brown for a follow up release on Arcane. So exciting times ahead.
