Interview with Plastik Funk
Hello Rafael, could you share more insights about your label, FUNK YOU Musik?
My goal is to support new artists and also release music from well-known artists, including my own tracks. I’m not just looking at how many followers or monthly listeners an artist has; I’m interested in the music itself. I want to release music that I love!
What are you the most excited about in 2024?
2024 I am most excited about my Island – Ibiza because is one of the most beautiful places I know on Earth. 2024 is going to be a very special season over there, so I can’t wait to see, what is going to happen this year. I am excited to see the new business class of Turkish Airlines because I take their flights whenever I go on tour to Asia and it saves my life occasionally because I am DJing so much and I am not sleeping, I am sleeping in the plane. I know it sounds super cheesy, but I am wondering to see this one!
I can’t wait to see if human beings will behave this year because it is such a critical year and everyone is fighting and trying to have wars. I hope we try to go back to normal and try to live together like normal before.
Could you name three things that you can’t live without?
That is a good question, without coffee, that’s for sure, cause as I am DJing so much, and if I do not have a coffee I will not even be able to think. Also, my team is everything to me and has my back all the time when I am touring around the world I can’t live without my home – Ibiza, it gives me all my energy to survive after a long tour.
Were there any challenges you faced in your career? How have you overcome them?
I think that COVID was the biggest challenge of my career, because everything else I mean the normal way of going, is that you have to fight and work with the pressure you have as an artist to get better. You have to accomplish around you COVID challenged me a lot.
Are there any Artists that you are inspired by?
I said it already in thousands of interviews, that I am a big fan of Pharrell Williams. He is such an amazing artist and he is so creative in any way. David Guetta is also a huge inspiration because he is just so good at what he does. Not because he is big with his radio hits, but because he is finding new ways to express himself like in Future House and Future Rave whatever he does is on the point and he is a really big inspiration, it’s the same with Don Diablo, because his label is very similar to what I am doing with my label Funky Music.
