It’s our first time in Prague so we can’t wait!
Can you share the story of how you both met and decided to join forces as Dubai’s only female DJ duo?
We met during Covid in a time when we couldn’t DJ and we clicked so we started jamming together and had so much fun. Females in the industry tend to get pitched against each other but we wanted to empower and support each other so we formed a duo! Our blend of individual tastes works well together.
How has your experience been with your residency at SOHO Garden and how does it feel to make warm-ups for names such as Jamie Jones, MK, Claptone, Sonny Fodera, etc?
We were very lucky for the opportunity to learn the art of ‘the warm-up’ because it is SO important. We learned a lot there about how to build a crowd respectfully and enabled us to grow as DJs. We have so much love for Soho Garden as they began our journey as a duo in the industry.
Being a part of Toolroom, we’re curious about your journey to becoming associated with Mark Knight’s label. Could you tell us that story?
We supported Mark Knight in Dubai as part of our residency multiple times. We played him one of our unsigned songs during our support set and he loved it. This track got signed to the Toolroom ADE Compilation album and our association with the label started there. He gave us a great pep talk on the day we met him about how we should always reach for our goals and that’s where it all started with the Toolroom family.
In your opinion, who is currently the hottest DJ in the scene?
That’s a really hard question to answer, and impossible to choose one! We take influence from multiple genres of house – minimal, tech, house and there’s a lot of up-and-coming DJs breaking through at the moment every week – and so much good music floating around!
What is the main goal for Jenn Getz & Alfie this year?
This year is all about releasing more music and playing as much as we can to new audiences. The year is looking busy already (especially this summer) and we can’t wait!
Lastly, which upcoming events are you most excited about performing at?
Prague of course! We are also really looking forward to the UK festivals such as Forbidden Forest this summer and obviously Ibiza!
