Interview with Solee
Can you walk us through the inspiration behind your new EP “Faith Healer”? What sparked the idea for this project?
Hello everyone. Most of the time my ideas come from jamming around in the studio. Listening to sounds in my synths or playing around with notes or effects or something like that. Sometimes I find a cool bassline, sometimes a nice melody that I want to do something with. In the case of “Faith Healer,” it started with the bassline, which I really wanted to do something with, and ultimately built everything around it. “Heat” arose because I bought a new VST, the Acid V from Arturia. I wanted to include some acid in my productions, having only done so very rarely in the past. In the end, there was only a small acid influence left in the track, but the acid line was the first element and then I gradually found more and more melodies to go with it. “Heat” was supposed to be a functional and ravy club track with a lot of drive right from the start, that was my basic idea.
The title “Faith Healer” evokes a strong sense of spirituality or transformation. Can you elaborate on the significance of this title in relation to the music?
Sometimes I name my tracks after things that concern me at the moment or topics that are present in my environment. I found the bassline very hypnotizing and somehow spiritual right from the start, and I tried to build the whole track on this feeling. I think I was able to reinforce this feeling through the vocals and the flowing melody. So I wanted to name the track accordingly and since I firmly believe that music has the strongest power to make someone healthy, especially mentally, the title fit perfectly for me.

Are there any particular tracks on the EP that hold special meaning to you?
Most of my tracks have a special meaning for me. They reflect a certain phase in my life and from the beginning to the end, of the creation of my tracks, things happen in my life, in my emotional world. Everything flows into my productions. When I listen to the finished tracks, even years after they were released, the tracks mostly remind me of certain feelings or experiences.
As a DJ, producer, and label boss. How do you balance these roles, and how do they influence each other?
It’s sometimes a little difficult to find the balance, but since I’ve been doing this for a while now, it works quite well now. It definitely inspires each other and my life never gets boring! Apart from that, I also have helpful people at my side who help me in several areas.
What has been one of the most memorable moments of your career so far?
As a DJ, those were probably my appearances at the Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia a few years ago because of the absolutely special atmosphere and also the opening of the Turmbühne at the German Fusion Festival in 2022. As a music producer, there are a lot of memorable moments, when you get lovely feedback from the listeners and DJs and you realize that you are helping other people with your music or just ensuring a good time. For example, sometimes I get messages from people thanking me for the fact that my music helped them in bad times in life. This touches me very much.
The electronic music scene is constantly changing. How do you stay inspired and keep your sound fresh amidst the industry’s evolution?
Of course, I regularly listen to what’s hyped out there and where any trends are going. Of course, I’m definitely influenced by it, especially by trends that I like, but basically, I try to do my thing and do what I enjoy regardless of trends. I understand that trends have always come and gone and that I have to run after everyone is NOT my way. As a music producer, I’m of course always interested in exciting new tools to keep the sound up to date and I’m always testing things out. That has always been part of my passion.
As a label boss, what do you look for in emerging artists? Is there any advice you would give to up-and-coming producers?
For me, it’s all about the music. I have to feel it evoke emotions in me and fit the sound that I release on my label. I like recognizable tracks. Of course, it’s also good if the artist behind it is serious. It’s important that he stands behind his music and uses every modern opportunity (Social Media for example) to draw attention to his music so that music can be heard and doesn’t get lost in the huge mass of releases. Of course, as a label, you have a lot of options and you take advantage of them, but nowadays music listeners and potential fans are also very focused on artists directly.
Looking toward the future, are there any particular goals or projects you are excited about?
I’m looking forward to some great releases this year, both on my label Future Romance and from myself. I’m also looking forward to the summer so I can play my music at a few festivals again. A few great events have already been confirmed, I hope we’ll see each other for a little dance sometime somewhere.
Thank you for your time, end hope you see you perform somewhere soon!
