Met at Berlin’s renowned School of Audio Engineering, Tassilo and Thomas have proven that there are no limits to what can be achieved or dreamed of. Now is the time Pan-Pot is truly coming into its own. Not only as world-class artists and performers but as tastemakers and masters of their destiny.
We have met with Pan-Pot at Techmission Prague 2024 and here is a little interview:
Well, today is my lucky day, cause I am finally interviewing my favorite duo Pan-Pot, welcome to Prague, how are you?
Tassilo: Thank you very much first of all, we are doing good, a little bit tired from yesterday, but thanks for having us!
I heard that you played 8 hour set and I wonder how you could survive as tonight you are at another event. Techmission in Prague, where do you take the power?
Thomas: Mostly we try to keep it healthy, like sleeping a lot and doing sports and we try to save energy for the weekend in the week.
How do you balance your life with touring, producing, and with the parties?
Tassilo: First of all we have a family life, you know with kids and wives, and as Thomas already mentioned we do a lot of sports and normal activities to keep your mind and your body and your health balanced. We had 20 years of Pan-Pot last year so it kind of works I would say!
You are the legends on the scene, what would you advise newcomers on the techno scene?
Thomas: Just following what you love is the key to success I would say.
Tassilo: I think authenticity, means to do something which is your own and what you love, where you can do the best out of what you are meant to do. But also on a long-term basis is important to keep yourself healthy, and balanced and keep the right mindset so you can do this for a long time.
We have so many newcomers on the scene, who do you think we should be aware of at the moment?
Tassilo: First of all I am very bad with the names and there are so many right now. I can tell you some artists we have on the eye, especially cause it’s our kind of music and is one friend we work with in the studio and his artist name is Noir and then we have a guy from Italy we signed to our label Second State label as well as Noir and his name is Dast is also exciting kind of techno, not to ravey, but still very kind of driving and bouncy, the stuff we like, not to fast not to ravey just like a right portion of everything.
Electronic Dance Music is still evolving and we have so many trends nowadays, which trends do you hate?
Thomas: I will not hate any trends, I like the diversity of the dance music and it was always like this. I don’t hate anything, hate something is a hard word I would say, but of course some stuff I try to avoid.
What are the plans for Pan-Pot in 2024?
Tassilo: To sum it up in a few words, we invented ourselves and just set everything up in a new way because some things were happening, and as we had 20 years of Pan-Pot last year it’s just like music vise, but also business set up. We inventing I would say.
Thomas: we are producing the music right now, we keep our old stuff and we are inventing new styles right now which I like. It’s like an old Pan-Pot and a new Pan-Pot
