2023 is coming to an end, and we now know the best-selling tracks, labels, and, most importantly, artists over the past 12 months on the BEATPORT platform.
Some may be surprised as they might have expected someone completely different at the top, but BEATPORT stats tell a different story.
The top spot among record labels went to AFTERLIFE RECORDS, followed closely by INSOMNIAC RECORDS, with John Summit securing the third position with his relatively new label, EXPERTS ONLY. The Top 5 also includes the house label GLASGOW UNDERGROUND and Adam Beyer’s DRUMCODE.
As for the success of individual tracks, most would have predicted Peggy Gou‘s “(It Goes Like) Nanana” to be the hit of 2023, but on BEATPORT, it only claimed the fourth spot. The bronze medal, figuratively speaking, goes to ANOTR with “Relax My Eyes.” FISHER secured the second position with the excellent track “TAKE IT OFF,” and the top spot went to the trio of Four Tet, Skrillex, and Fred again., who captured the hearts of fans with the song “Baby Again.”
Now, let’s move on to the category of the best-selling artist on BEATPORT for the year 2023.
5. MAU P
In fifth place is the young Dutch artist Maurits Westveen, who only last year announced his new project MAU P. Drugs From Amsterdam wasn’t hit of 2023 however he added other tracks that producers around the world love, earning him a spot in the TOP 5.
4. Kevin MCKAY
The fourth position goes to the producer and CEO of GLASGOW UNDERGROUND, Kevin McKay, known for his reworks of old hits.
3. DOM DOLLA
The third spot goes to Australia and one of the most beloved artists of the past year. Some might have expected Fisher, but this time, Dom Dolla takes the third spot. He had several hits this year, including “Rhyme Dust” with producer MK, the impressive collaboration “Eat Your Man” with Nelly Furtado, and the fresh house sound showcased in “Saving Up.”
2. SKRILLEX
Taking the second spot is one of the greatest producers of all time, Mr. Skrillex. This year, he contributed to this position with the best-selling track of the year, as well as the collaboration with Boyz Noise – “Fine Day Anthem,” not to mention his albums ‘Quest For Fire’ and ‘Don’t Get Too Close.’
1. ANYMA
The first place goes to the CEO of the best-selling label, AFTERLIFE. Half of the duo Tale Of Us and a person who combines his music with visuals, technologies, and incredible experiences, ANYMA. The album ‘Genesys’ and incredible tracks like ‘Syren,’ ‘Eternity,’ and many more undoubtedly contributed to this success.
